Choosing to Submit

Published: December 19, 2008, Author: JayTaber

Author Steven Salaita discusses the consequences of American electoral culture, where Americans are forced to concede their most basic moral principles. Looking at the consequences of this American concession, Salaita notes the deeply violent process of ethnic cleansing in Palestine. As Salaita observes, good Americans don’t challenge this unjust system, but like good liberals become excited about choosing to submit.
