Murder and Mayhem

Published: April 8, 2009, Author: JayTaber

Vanguard looks at the situation in the Niger Delta, where corruption by the Nigerian government and foreign oil companies has deprived Ogoni and other youth of the region of employment, forcing many locals to engage in criminal activities in order to survive. Infamous for both legitimate insurgents as well as heavily-armed criminal gangs, the delta serves as a warning to heads of state worldwide, that looting by government officials — whether in investment banking or resource extraction — leads to the criminalization of society. Obama and the other G-20 thugs should take note.
