Mission of Defamation

by
The integration of the U.S. State Department agenda with that of NGOs like Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International didn't happen by accident. Philanthropic foundations that underwrite NGOs advocating for the environment, human rights and intellectual freedom also benefit from American global hegemony. As reapers of derivatives from transnational corporations dependent on the projection of US power and the exercise of US coercion, the foundations have a vested interest in perpetuating the myth that their pet NGOs are noble champions, when in fact, they are little more than PR puppets.

As Wrong Kind of Green illustrates in its article about the Human Rights Watch mission of defamation against Eritrea, when the US deems it necessary for sake of its hegemony to demonize independent states, NGOs like Human Rights Watch can be counted on to serve as an echo chamber for State Department propagandists.
