    (Puerto Rico). Our sovereign tribal nation was reaffirmed under its own constitution and tribal laws in
    Puerto Rico on the 18th day of November 1970. We as an American Indian people are part of a greater
    Taino Tribal Nation of the circum Caribbean and Florida Diaspora. We share a common heritage with
    the Arawakan people of South America We are better known historically as the very first American Indian
    tribal nation to greet and meet Christopher Columbus in the year 1492.
