February 11, 1980. This article exposes some of the budget and energy bills that became a big focus near the halfway point of the 1980 regular WA State legislature. For one thing, the governor’s proposal to create a new Department of Energy was not received warmly by the House Energy Committee. Likewise, the House and the Senate (along with their accompanying committees) dissected certain components of proposed energy bills and were expected to consider a bill that would ban nuclear waste from out of state.
