"Puyallup Shipping Terminal":
On May 1st, 2007 the Puyallups announced their new partnership with Seattle based SSA Marine to create thousands of jobs and benefit the entire region with the construction and operation of a proposed container shipping terminal. The Tribe's shipping site will become the largest and most state-of-the-art among the Port of Tacoma area terminals.
"Native Youth Conference: Spokane "
Nearly 900 youth from around the Northwest gathered in Spokane for the 32nd annual Indian Youth Conference. This year's event was sponsored by the Kalispell Tribe. This five-day experience is held to give native youth the tools, resources and information they need to become effective leaders.
"The Moving Wall"
The Nooksack Tribe and American Legion Post 83, recently sponsored The Vietnam Combat Veterans Ltd 'Moving Wall', a half-sized replica of the Washington DC Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, created by renowned artist Maya Lin.
"Nez Perce Chief Redheart Memorial Ceremony"
Saturday April 21st marked the 10th annual commemoration of the Nez Perce , Chief Redheart Memorial Ceremony at the Vancouver National Historic Reserve.
During the Nez Perce War of 1877, The U.S. Army captured 33 members of Chief Redheart's band and imprisoned them at Fort Vancouver.
The ceremony honors the ancestors and pays tribute to the enduring ideals of Indian culture.
