Biographical Information:Gregg S. Wilkinson is Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Community Health (PMCH) and a Senior Epidemiologist in the Office of Biostatistics (OBIOS). He also serves as Associate Director for Research in the Department of Family Medicine, and is a Senior Fellow in the Sealy Center for Aging and a Senior Fellow in the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health. His research interests include human health effects associated with low dose ionizing radiation and toxicities associated with medications and other therapies that patients receive. Some recent studies that he has directed or participated in are: osteonecrosis of the jaw and other complications associated with intravenous bisphosphonates, the risk of dementia among female nuclear workers, the effect of contraceptives on blood lipid levels, treatment patterns among elderly males who experience fractures and breast cancer incidence among women who participated in a wellness program. Dr. Wilkinson's research primarily involves the use of large data bases such as health insurance claims data, employee health and administrative records and tumor registry data. He has taught courses in basic and advanced epidemiology, epidemiologic methods, cancer epidemiology and radiation epidemiology.
