Biographical Information:I am originally from Wilmington, North Carolina. I completed my B.S in Biological Sciences at North Carolina State University in 2009. For 5 months during 2010, I interned with Dr. Korn at the CWIS/CTM site in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. I conducted biomedical literature reviews, did botanical photography for a bi-lingual book entitled Medicinas de la Selva, tested traditional indigenous food and medicine recipes, tabled at the farmer's market and shadowed Dr. Korn during clinical interviews. I have always been interested in environmental conservation due to my coastal upbringing, and in college I founded the Student Government Sustainability Committee, and initiated the annual Farmers Market. I completed an Honors Research Assistantship at the NCSU Veterinary School in the field of Developmental Biology. I am interested in pursuing integrative health and medicine in graduate school and integrated my interests in food, nutrition, healing and the environment during my internship in Mexico. My favorite internship moments included doing yoga and hiking and collecting specimens in the rural communities near Puerto Vallarta.
