Box 2574 :: :: Olympia, Wa Fido Net 1:352/333 :: :: 98507-2574 206-786-9629 :: :: USA The Quarto Mundista BBS :: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: A F F I L I A T E D T R I B E S O F N O R T H W E S T I N D I A N S RESOLUTION #84-F-04 WHEREAS, the American Indian Tribes have been continuously attacked with adverse publicity and political action movements as a new kind of approach towards the acts of genocide reflected in the nineteenth century; and WHEREAS, these movements, to totally discredit Indian Treaties, laws, and policies of such adverse groups have tended to degrade the integrity of the American Indian Tribes and the legal status guaranteed to the Tribes under solemn Treaties made with the United States government; and WHEREAS, there is a strong need to effectively counteract the bad, derogatory publicity being imposed against the American Indian Tribes and their Treaties: and THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians expresses its concern for the need to organize a political-action movement group, consisting of a committee or commission of Indians journalist, newspaper editors, publishers, or media experts, in general, to make national or regional response to such public aggression of anti-Indian/anti-Treaty media exposure to the American public; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians urges the 41st Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians to support this resolution and give serious consideration to organize such a group of experts, as a political action group, responding to adverse publicity movements.
