Tribal governments are at different stages of development and would benefit from one another's experience in the development of tribal laws. The State, Federal and County governments are increasingly challenging the authority of Tribal governments to govern within their boundaries. WHEREAS; through the sharing of this necessary information Tribal governments will be better able to deal with the State, Federal, and Local regulations which now face them at various stages, and WHEREAS; Tribal governments all share the interest of protecting, preserving, and enhancing Indian rights, and WHEREAS; Tribal governments are without a centrally located mechanism of communication through which to share regulations, ordinances, legal jurisdiction and their experiences, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Tribal delegates to the Conference of Tribal Governments support the establishment of a Tribal Government Data Collection Center, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Conference of Tribal Governments does charge a three member task force to develop such an approach, by or before July, 1979, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Tribal Government Task Force will plan for a data center to transmit to each Tribal Government for review and adoption, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Tribal delegates to the Conference of Tribal Governments, Session III and their respective tribes shall commit as necessary their resources to work for formal establishment of an Inter-tribal Governmental Center by December 1979.
