Indigenous Fire Stewardship: Federal/Tribal Partnerships for Wildland Fire Research and Management

This article describes the history of indigneous fire management in North America, as well as the specific strategies used to mitigate fires. Specifically, the document describes fire management methodologies in terms of frequency, seasonality, and specificity. The article concludes with a call for cross-cultural understanding and ecological collaboration in order to both preserve Tribal customs and more effectively manage wildfires.
