On the 3rd of March 2021, the Chilean government authorized the Resolution Project 1448. This resolution allowed for the military occupation of the Zona Sur – the Mapuche territory. The Mapuche nation subsequently released this document, calling on the international community and the United Nations to provide support and protection. Specifically, the document calls on the Chilean Institute of Human Rights, the special rapporteur of the United Nations for the Rights of Indigenous People and the Inter-American Commission on human rights to take effective action to halt the imposition of a Constitutional State of Exception on Mapuche territory.
