This report, authored by three Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar’s Dawei district, summarizes the impacts of military and corporate mining projects on indigenous land rights and lifeways. It specifically holds that the Ban Chaung Mining project is in clear violation of the indigenous Karen communities in the area – particularly in reference to UNDRIP Article 10. It concludes with several recommendations to the Ministry of Mines, the Myanmar Central Government, the Karen National Union, the Mayflower Mining Company, and civil society in Myanmar and around the globe.
