This study from the twentieth session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues describes the relationship between climate change and indigenous lifeways, as well as the means by which indigenous knowledge can be implemented in order to combat it. Biodiversity protection, ecological restoration, and the optimization of agricultural systems to limit anthropogenic gas emissions are all climate change mitigation strategies cited as deriving from indigenous knowledge. This study also calls for new partnerships between indigenous groups and stakeholders in developing environmental strategies.
