The Quinault Government has historically maintained a distant relationship with the government of the State of Washington. Many of the eleven legal contests in which the Quinault Indian Nation is currently engaged involve questions concerning the extent of state regulatory or jurisdictional powers within the boundaries of the Quinault Nation.
