Congratulations to Coast Salish Institute and Northwest Indian College on their efforts to build a repository of knowledge and culture with assistance from the National Endowment for the Humanities. When completed, the $5.5 million facility will include a language lab, video production room, and classroom space with distance learning capabilities. Similar to what in Europe is called a humanities laboratory, the facility allows students to actively engage cutting edge ideas with advanced communications tools.
The library is dedicated to the memory of Secwepemc Chief George Manuel (1921-1989), to the nations of the Fourth World and to the elders and generations to come.
