National Congress of American Indians President Brian Cladoosby calls industrial vision at Cherry Point* outdated and unconscionable. Threats to Lummi Nations cultural heritage, as well as to endangered species like Orca whale and Chinook salmon, says Cladoosby, are exacerbated by recent plans to export fossil fuels like coal and oil from Cherry Point.
*Cherry Point is located adjacent to the Lummi Indian Reservation in northwest Washington State. It is on the shore of the Salish Sea, forty miles south of Vancouver, B.C.
