Rashida Manjoo, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, will visit the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians this week to learn about the epidemic of violence against native women in the US. Co-hosted by the National Congress of American Indians, the gathering will discuss what changes need to be made by the United States government in order to protect Indian women from rape, stalking and assault.
The library is dedicated to the memory of Secwepemc Chief George Manuel (1921-1989), to the nations of the Fourth World and to the elders and generations to come.
