As Sarah Hunt observes in her article on Media Indigena, theft of indigenous peoples’ property is a normal activity under colonial settlement. Whether that theft is by individuals, government, or corporations, it reflects a seriously derelict double standard. Devoid of integrity, the colonial mindset that excuses theft from indigenous families, communities and nations is something that can only be addressed by education that leads to a change of heart.
For the victims of this ongoing theft, that process can seem painfully slow.
