Trials of Repression

Zach Ruiter and Megan Kinch of Toronto Media Co-op report on the latest of the G20 trials of repression against anti-austerity activists by the Government of Canada. As noted in the embedded video, the organizers doing time in prison were selected for prosecution for their effectiveness, and more importantly, for their collaboration with Six Nations land defenders. Given the long violent battle by the Canadian state against the Haudenosaunee, the political prisoners from the G20 demonstrations, say Ruiter and Kinch, are being punished for linking the racist agenda of the Canadian state to its neoliberal agenda–a history lesson Canada’s courts are either unwilling or unable to comprehend.
