Israel’s Concentration Camp-Gaza

Israel's Concentration Camp-Gaza

Max Blumenthal writes in his column “The Next Gaza War” that more than 500,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip remain displaced by Israel’s relentless bombing in 2008 when more than 2,000 Palestinians were killed–more than 500 of whom were children and nearly 300 were women.  Israel has essentially created a gigantic prison isolating more than 1.8 million people in what is essentially a concentration camp. Al Jazeera (see photo) reports the same in its article by Sharif Nashashibi

From Another grim anniversary for Gaza – Al Jazeera English

I wrote in this space some time ago that Israelis and Palestinians are essentially cousins who should find common ground given their origins. I still think that and would hope that given the urgent political moves made by the Palestinian government in the West Bank (World Court and UN status with about 138 countries recognizing Palestine as a state) Israel will stop with its paranoia (yes bullies like Iran have threatened Israel), but let’s be honest…there are reasons to be paranoid, but not crazy vicious. Israel’s militancy now rivals other paranoid states, and given its heritage this is a sad direction to move toward.

Dehumanizing Palestinians is no virtue…any more than dehumanizing Jews in Europe or Russia is a virtue. With states, corporations, non-governmental organizations, religious organizations and wealthy individuals now proceeding to boycott and disinvest in Israel the message is clear. Stop behaving like your enemies and return to the human race Israel!
