Imagination, commitment, and self-reliance of Irish communities may be the only hope for saving the Irish language from extinction. But while the Irish may traditionally have these qualities in abundance, it behooves the states of Ireland and the UK, as well as the multi-state bodies of the EU and UN to provide legislative protection and monetary support if Irish is to remain a living language.
The library is dedicated to the memory of Secwepemc Chief George Manuel (1921-1989), to the nations of the Fourth World and to the elders and generations to come.
