Healing on Hold

Angela Sterritt reports on the fine work of the Native Women’s Association of Canada, and examines their betrayal by the Canadian government. As the leading advocate for aboriginal women with the justice system, NWAC documented the violence and proposed solutions. Using their disturbing information to obtain funding, Ottawa then used the money for such purposes as expanding warrantless wiretaps. Meanwhile, the healing and support First Nations communities need is on hold.
