Group affirms tribal sovereignty through public education

When the turn of political events requires Maine’s tribes to assert their sovereignty, they don’t have to do it alone. They get support from a non-tribal coalition that stands in solidarity with them, marching at demonstrations, meeting with elected officials, writing letters and letting the public know it’s okay for non-Native people to side with Indians.

Chief George Manuel Memorial Indigenous Library

The library is dedicated to the memory of Secwepemc Chief George Manuel (1921-1989), to the nations of the Fourth World and to the elders and generations to come.
