How to justify theft by rationalizing fraud encapsulates the institutional and corporate position on climate change talks. Exclusion of contrary perspectives — particularly by the Indigenous nations expected to continue bearing the brunt of the associated economic burden — has become so ingrained in international institutions like the UN, that the Fourth World of aboriginal peoples has been rendered invisible. How the UN managed to do this while at the same time sponsoring an Indigenous peoples forum within its own architecture can only be described as an act of magical proportions. One third of humanity, here today and gone tomorrow—poof!
The library is dedicated to the memory of Secwepemc Chief George Manuel (1921-1989), to the nations of the Fourth World and to the elders and generations to come.
