Terrorizing West Papua

For West Papuans, having plastic bags forced over their heads, burning sticks held to their genitals, or knives held to their throats by Indonesian soldiers is not unusual. In fact, Indonesian President Yudhoyono describes this ongoing torture as minor incidents. Not surprisingly, the soldiers caught on video torturing Papuan villagers got off lightly. Shockingly, last July, President Obama lifted the US ban on funding these Indonesian death squads.
