With uranium and gold mines in Mali at stake, the invasion by France with Canadian and US support signals an extension of the North African offensive initiated by NATO in 2012. As Western powers seek to consolidate control over Africa’s vast resources, the self-determination of indigenous peoples like the Tuareg is under siege. Roger Annis reports.
